Problem : I think the vast majority of US citizens believe in a two term limit on all of Congress but there are no term limits, because the congress will not limit their power over us and profit opportunities to them. The Congressperson with more terms gathers more power in committees and has an advantage over any challenger to their re-election. That power attracts money from companies that want decisions to go their way with generous unlimited donations.
Solution: The only way to force congress to limit is a grass roots effort through petitions placing this issue on the ballot for the message to be received in Washington.
We have term limits for the President of the United States because we don’t want a Dictator. New Congressional candidates could use this issue as a action they want to take for the American People. The question is once they are in power would they have the integrity to follow through on their promises?
