All human relationships are conditional or based on a consistancy of behavior agreed by both individuals.
If your friend punches you in the nose, your not going to be friends – immediately. If you are married you may give the person a second chance if they apologize, but if the person does not stop – the marriage is over. The difference in marriage is you have large financial consequences and if children are involved a ongoing required interactions for decades to come.
Employers and Employee have a concept called an “At Will Relationship” The Employer makes an offer of work and duties and the Employee agrees to those conditions as long as it works for both parties. But at any time and without cause either party can terminate the relationship without consequences.
When you superimpose a system (Marriage) on on the imagined expectations of two persons of the opposite sex and combine that with personal feelings that change over time – its not hard to see why the divorce rate is 50%. Combine the above the new sexual identity crisis and we have a real mess brewing.
My understanding of marriage was that it was developed over time for three basic reasons
- For men to know the paternity of the child he is supporting.
- For women to provide the support to allow care for the child.
- For the Child to provide a food clothing shelter and two advisors in life.
Men do not need to worry anymore – genetic testing has solved that problem.
Women via the courts obtain 20% of the man’s salary for child support.
The child has food clothing and shelter but a much diminished and biased view of the world with one parent.
Solution : Make your own marriage !
1. Go to lawyer first and have them review the form of marriage agreement details your making ! 2. We need All women to be raised to make their own income and career options 3. We need an updated framework for marriage or no marriage. 4. Marriage can be between any two human beings regardless of their sexual identity.
- Term to be agreed ( renewal every 5 years )
- Chose to combine incomes or not ?
- Plan to have children or not ?
- Household Duties and responsibilities ?
- Conjugal rights ( 2x per week ? )
- Promise of Fidelity ?
- Post marriage responsibilities ?
Please Note 1. – The type of marriage is up to the couple to deceide not the society ! Note 2. – You can marry til death do you part if you wish ! ( The traditional marriage )
Most agree no one should be in an unhappy marriage – that is why we have no fault divorce.
