Pubic Transport is the most efficient method for moving the vast majority of the populations in Europe.
Take a vacation anywhere in Europe and you do not need a car. Just plan the cities and the hotels then book the trains that connect all the cities you want to visit. – Done and Enjoy !
The big difference in America is the distances are bigger so for great distances planes make better plan , but the US Commuters that travel the same route 5 days a week could save massive energy by just placing monorails on every interstate entering every city. Clearly the Car companies and Oil Companies are not going to allow this idea to take place. China and Japan has Bullet trains and we have Amtrack ?
The Remote employment trend will help diminish energy usage but a Monorail system (like in Disneyland) stopping at all exits where you provide safe car parking lots at every exit – saving money and CO2.
Building Electric cars with the cost of batteries and toxicity of mining with the use of fossil fuels to charge your car in combination with the need to dispose of the batteries every 5 years. Clearly we need to move to nuclear power to create the energy have better batteries and charging stations widely distributed for this system to work. Just drive the electric car to the nearest Train station in your town to your city job.!
